Use /battle to fight the wild Pokémon in your channel, or choose a player in the command to challenge another trainer. You pick moves and switches through Discord's battle controls.
Your team matters, but so does what you do each turn. A faster Pokémon can still be caught out by a priority move, a status condition, or a well-timed switch.

- Wild encounter: use

Use /team view to check your party before a fight. /info shows an owned Pokémon's moves, ability, held item, and stats.
What happens each turn
You have 60 seconds to choose an action. You can attack or switch Pokémon; wild battles also offer a Catch action.
Moves normally resolve by priority, then Speed. For example, Extreme Speed can act before a faster opponent's ordinary attack. Equal-Speed ties are random. Effects such as Trick Room can change the usual order.
Damage depends on the move, the attacking and defending stats, type matchups, and other battle effects. Using a move that matches the user's type gives a same-type attack bonus, usually shortened to STAB.
Status conditions
| Condition | What to watch for |
|---|---|
| Burn | Usually halves physical damage and removes 1/16 of max HP each turn. |
| Paralysis | Halves Speed and gives a 25% chance of being unable to act. |
| Sleep | Usually prevents attacks for 1–3 turns. |
| Poison | Deals damage each turn. Bad poison gets worse the longer the Pokémon stays in. |
Abilities and moves can change how these effects work, so check the Pokémon and move descriptions when a matchup behaves differently than expected.
Stat changes, weather, and terrain
In-battle stat changes range from −6 to +6 stages. Ordinary stat-stage changes reset when the Pokémon switches out.
Weather and terrain can change damage or activate abilities. Chlorophyll, for example, raises Speed in sun; Swift Swim does the same in rain. Check these effects before assuming which Pokémon will move first.
For catching during a wild battle, including ball costs and catch odds, see Levels and Catching.
